This Saturday February 23, KOK makes its return to the Arena Riga in Riga, Latvia. It’s the first event of the year for the promotion, with around 20 KOK shows planned for 2019.
The night’s main attraction is a scheduled five-round battle for the KOK Europe Middleweight Title. Latvian fighter Jurijs Orlovs battles for the vacant crown before a hometown crowd against Mike Sprangh, fighting out of the famed Mike’s Gym in Amsterdam. Both men are KOK veterans, and the winner should move up towards a fight for the vacant middleweight world title.
Popular young Latvian fighter Raimonds Aukstikalnis looks to get back on track in another 85 kg battle against Britain’s Reon “The Beast” Wong.
Aukstikalnis lost an extra-round decision to Daniel Forsberg last October. Wong is a less-experienced fighter, but he’s tough and determined, as he showed last summer against Asaf Aslanov at KOK 58.
Chico Kwasi, another Mike’s Gym standout, faces Alexey Marizihin. Kwasi is no stranger to fighting on the road-the young Dutch fighter just won a bout in Estonia this past weekend.
FightBox KOK Hero’s 2019 in Riga
Prior to the KOK World Series main card, the FightBox KOK Hero’s 2019 card takes place. Fans will get a chance to see a multi-discipline event featuring a ladies boxing match, an MMA heavyweight fight, two KOK-rules kickboxing contests, and also an amateur WAK-1F Baltic title bout.
