KOK came back to Cyprus with a bang

It was a knocking start of King of Kings new year last Saturday (28th January, 2017) in Nicosia, Cyprus. “Tassos Papadopoulos” Eleftheria stadium was rocked with impressive fights and the best fighters.

By combining nine martial arts, kickboxing, K-1, Karate, kung fu, kudo, boxing, taekwondo, MMA, Wushu as well as other war technics, the super fighters of the King of Kings (KOK) are truly impressive athletes. A fact that proves the excitement and spectacle of KOK Fights is that around 80 per cent of the bouts end with a knockout.

15 fights captured audience attention, making the starts of Mario Dimitrov, who won by decision 3:0 against Lebanese fighter Ahmad Alkadi in 65 kg category, KOK rules. Lithuanian fighter Karolis Buslys met in the ring Marios Zenonos and lost by judges decision. The fight took place by MMA rules, 61 kg.

One of the youngest polish stars Dawid Mirkowski ruined all hopes of Cypriot Andronikos Evripidou. In MMA fight, 71 kg category, Lithuanian guy Vytautas Sadauskas knocked out Cypriot Paata Tschapelia in the first round.

Raimonds Aukstikalnis of Latvia gave a victory to opponent, local fighter Constantinos Zenonos. Lithuanian growing star Darius Minkevicius made a surprise for Russian origin Cypriot Stefan Almazov and won by triangle strangling in the early first round.

The most attention has attracted fight between Lebanese fighter Ali Choucair – Mortada and Paphos Thai Boxing & MMA Fight Club champion Giorgos Kostanidis. After so much exchanges of punches, a draw was announced in the end.

Greatest match-up of the night was between local star Kyriakos Alepides and Scott Jawany of England. Kyriakos won by judges decision and gave amazing victory to all the fans. 

In every match a great Cypriot fighter took on some of the best athletes from abroad. Besides mentioned stars, the other Cypriots were Kostas Kleanthous, Dimitrios Chiotis, Loucas Tryfonos and Savvas Michael.

The Nicosia event was one round of the 2017 World Series which has attracted the interest of thousands of fans in Lithuania, England, Romania , Poland, Latvia, Russia, Lebanon, Turkey and Greece.
