Latvia’s leading welterweight kickboxer, Zaur Dzhavadov, is preparing for his upcoming fight on October 19 at “Arena Riga” for the interim “King of Kings” world champion title against Brazilian fighter Rodrigo Ferreira. His training camp is taking place in Thailand, where he is sparring with world-class combat sports stars. The Azerbaijani-origin Latvian athlete is working with the same coaching team that helped him in 2017 when he first won the “King of Kings” world champion title by defeating Sergej Morari from Moldova.”My coach ‘Big’ helped me prepare for my first world championship fight in 2017, and now, after several years, he is helping me again as I prepare for my third fight for the world title,” Dzhavadov revealed.During his sparring sessions, Dzhavadov is being assisted by several globally recognized combat sports experts, one of whom is UFC fighter Rafael Fiziev, who won the bronze medal at the 2016 IFMA World Muay Thai Championship.”I’m always very happy to meet my friend Rafael Fiziev and work with him in sparring. This is another example of how hard sparring can lead to great friendships,” Dzhavadov shared about his collaboration with Fiziev. As a reminder, Zaur Dzhavadov and Rodrigo Ferreira have already faced each other once back in 2016, when they fought for the European champion title. This time, the stakes are much higher, as the winner of this match will become the world champion. In their previous fight, Zaur defeated the Brazilian in the third round by knockout.
